About Me & My Approach
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University. Through my doctoral training, I developed a deep understanding of the complexities of human thought, emotion, and behavior. I am deeply passionate about the work I do; it is a true privilege to support individuals as they grow, heal, and gain clarity in their lives.
I work with college students and adults. I also see high school juniors and seniors who are navigating the stress of the college application process. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, deeply heard, and understood, while also gently challenging you to move toward meaningful insight and change.
My style is often described as a balance of warmth and clarity: I aim to be fully present, engaged, and attuned, while also offering honest reflections and thoughtful direction throughout our sessions.
Every client brings a unique history, personality, and set of concerns to therapy. Our work together will be collaborative and responsive to your needs, grounded in a deep understanding of who you are and what you're carrying.
While therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, a few core principles guide my work:
Emotional Exploration
Emotions offer insights that logic alone cannot. Taking the time to slow down and connect with your emotions can reveal areas of distress, highlight your needs, and guide you toward meaningful action. In our work together, I’ll support you as you develop a richer emotional vocabulary and learn to respond to your feelings with curiosity, as opposed to avoidance or judgment.
Recognizing Patterns & Understanding Core Beliefs
Our pasts don't define us, but they do leave their imprint. Early experiences help form the core beliefs we hold about ourselves, others, and the world around us. By examining these beliefs and the patterns they create, we gain valuable insight into our present struggles. Understanding the roots of these challenges empowers us to break free and grow beyond them.
Creating Change
I help clients understand why they feel anxious, stuck, or on edge, while also offering practical tools to shift unhelpful thought patterns and cultivate resilience. Small, consistent shifts in thinking and behavior can lead to powerful results over time. Peace doesn’t come from trying to control everything around us; it comes from shifting our focus toward what we can control: our thoughts, our responses, our needs, and the choices available to us in the moment.
Why is therapy a worthwhile pursuit?
With the right client-clinician fit, therapy can be a life-altering experience. You’ll have space to process your past, understand your present, and feel more confident about your future. In many ways, it’s one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself. Whether you're seeking support for a long-standing mental health concern, trying to cope with something new, or just have a sense that life could feel better than it does right now, therapy can offer both immediate relief and long-term change.
I commonly work with clients navigating:
-
whether it shows up as racing thoughts, social avoidance, or a relentless focus on health concerns
-
especially for people juggling demanding careers or caregiving roles
-
that leave you feeling drained, confused, or like you're repeating the same patterns
-
saying yes when you want to say no, feeling guilty for protecting your time, or taking on more than you can handle
-
like binge eating, drinking to manage stress, or procrastinating until things feel unmanageable
-
figuring out who you are, especially as you decide how much you want to stay tied to the roles you grew up with
-
that voice in your head that tells you you're never doing enough or that you're falling short
-
feeling undeserving, not good enough, or unsure of your value
-
like sudden anger, deep sadness, or emotional numbness
-
such as starting college, becoming a parent, changing careers, or redefining your identity after a big change
